Introduction

Ayumi is a girl who works in an interesting niche – she owns several adult-themed websites.

I rarely see girls in Online Marketing, that’s why I thought this is a very interesting interview. And the adult industry only added excitement when I got the opportunity to interview Ayumi.

Mr. Web Capitalist Interviews Ayumi

Where are you from?

I’m originally from Japan but have spent little of my life there.

Could you describe what do you do and how you earn your living?

Right now, while I am young, I like to travel, shop and spend time with my pets and family (two and the same). When I’m not doing that I’m trying to finish off all the bits and pieces of projects I’ve started and never finished online over the years. This, of course, means testing new things all of the time too.

My living is earned directly through three things.

My own websites after I pay the commissioned sales to the people who use them, my affiliate associations and a small business I have in the real world dropshipping physical products and some reselling.

I started out in adult industries but now I’m growing more into the non-adult spheres such as Amazon.

How did you get started?

It is a bit weird how the beginning of everything came about.

There I was, studying in England, at a party where some friends had hired a male stripper. We had previously looked online at websites on this topic and it became apparent that the sites were lacking. My interest in learning web development found it’s first practice project. The creation of my first site. It became a free advertising platform for any and all adult services covering, today, 49 countries.

Yes, yes, if you have seen it, I know it sucks but I built it myself from scratch with absolutely no knowledge of coding. Which basically means it is my pride and joy no matter what.

Over these four years, I had no interest in affiliate marketing. My perception of it was that it is basically bullshit snake oil time wasting pyramids and alike. ‘Buy this book on how to make money!!’ only to learn from the book how to sell the same book to others to teach them how to sell the book and make money kind of thing.

My feelings towards affiliate marketing were that I would be stooping very low to get involved. I eventually could not have been any more wrong. By not rushing meant I would learn a mountain of stuff on my journey which is now invaluable.

When did you first start earning with your Adult themed website?

Once I had realized my hosting and other costs to run a website that offers a free service should actually be monetized.

That’s when I added my first banners and started to make a tiny amount.

A year later I lost the website due to my own mistake deleting an FTP client and having corrupted backups.

This was a wake-up call that I need to work just as hard but focus more on making money. That’s when I really started affiliate marketing and trying anything and everything.

If it’s not a secret, how much do you earn now with this website?

That is a secret. However, I am disappointed if everything combined, all sites, all affiliate programs and all of my % from models do not earn 3 figures every 2 days. That is my minimum target for now. Steady and not greedy or rushed is the key I feel.

I also spend lots of time in countries where its a lot cheaper to live so this makes my stress of earning a bit softer.

How many websites do you own? How many of them are earning you money?

6 domains and I only want to expand slowly. Some are white labels and affiliate sites. Two are my own built from scratch sites. They all earn something small at least just via banner ads or referrals elsewhere that lead to a sale.

I won’t be doing anything new in the adult industry anymore. I’m really attracted to having my own bigger store (not drop shipping) but a real store that exists locally and online.

Two of my adult themed websites are ayumipie.com (All Asian Skype Cams) and ayumibay.com (Free advertising for any and all Adult Services).

What’s your typical workday like?

Walking on the beach in the morning

A snug wake up usually by a cat on my face. Coffee. Depending on where I am I may eat fruits while walking on a beach, breakfast at a cafe or make my own breakfast. Coffee. Laptop for the remainder of the day (which could be 15 hours straight work) or day a day off entirely. Why not.

What makes You the most money?

Dating verticals and cams. Also, as a tool, Skype has been my seedy rich best friend all these years.

What is your Top source of traffic?

It took a long time to be able to get there but my top source is now organic searches.

Skype

Second to that: Skype and what I like to call excellent customer service – aka ethical spamming.

You said your top traffic source is organic searches. Any tips on SEO? How do you achieve good results in organic traffic?

I just spent years posting the name/brand everywhere. Spamming originally in multiple chat rooms, forums etc, then gaining my own strategies in getting others to help and posting anywhere and everywhere.

I’ve tried just about every app there is and posted in so many hundreds of places.

I’ve tried buying traffic/backlinks and such in the past but nothing has really worked out as advertised yet.

Are you working on any new projects?

Nothing brand new yet. I have some things I want to purchase in the future but I refuse to do so at the moment while things from years ago are still not fully completed to at least a 95% (because I also feel like nothing can ever be truly finished. There are always spaces for improvement.)

What has been your largest success in online marketing?

My largest successes were either getting approved for certain affiliate programs where others had not or the amount I’ve learned.

Largest paydays so far have been with bitcoin.

What do you like about online marketing?

The money. The fact it’s endless what you can learn and discover. The mistakes you make (or the scams you fall into, money lost etc) as they undeniably make you better at it.

Also, I can work where ever there is an internet connection.

What blogs do you read?

Black Hat World

Yours, fine sir. Only yours. Just kidding. BHW for this kind of stuff. Anything else is arbitrary from whatever I type in Google search.

Are there any must-have tools or resources you recommend for internet marketers?

Myself, I am a little greedy and selfish so I don’t want to be too open here. I’ve mentioned above BHW.

TinyTask

Tool? Check out TinyTask which automates actions on your computer. Something so small can be used in very interesting, original and effective ways.

What does the Internet Lifestyle mean to you?

It keeps me fed, entertained, challenged, creative and ambitious because you can never stop improving or earning.

What advice would you give to people just starting out with an online business?

Read. Read a lot.

Test. Test well and drop things that are not working out or work out why they are not, change and test again. Don’t EVER get dis-organized!

Most importantly – Get a mentor!

Second most importantly. Never floss drunk. You will regret it.

Practice does not make perfect. Perfect practice makes perfect.
